Guernsey and Jersey launch aircraft registers.
Guernsey and Jersey to launch their own aircraft registers. Anyone know the letters that will be used?
BBC News - Jersey government to launch aircraft registry |
Guernsey, I believe, was going to have a '2-' prefix while Jersey would have 'J-'.

Thanks. :ok:

Could it also be the case here like in IOM legislation, where no aircraft could fly under an AOC and all the FPL's would be issued as "G"?
Just wondering... |
Given, for historical reasons, that the prefix is based on the International Telecommunications Union call-sign list I would have expected it to be GU- for Guernsey and GJ- for Jersey
However, that noted reference site does suggest 2- for Guernsey... which could be confusing as "2" is allocated to the whole of the UK |

Given, for historical reasons, that the prefix is based on the International Telecommunications Union call-sign list I would have expected it to be GU- for Guernsey and GJ- for Jersey The hyphen isn't considered to be a differentiating feature in registrations (it's not used at all in ATC callsigns), so a GJ-xxx registration would be indistinguishable from the 600+ G-Jxxx registrations already issued to UK-registered aircraft, ditto the 250 or so G-Uxxx marks already allocated. |
