Passengers boarding via air bridges see very little of the decals on a plane, its only those boarding via the fresh air method who get a fleeting glimpse of a colour scheme.

Topspotter 24th January 2012 13:37

Thats a very astute observation if i may be so bold :D or as some less polite than i might say" no !!!! sherlock"

Cymmon 24th January 2012 15:26

This maybe true, but you get many Topspotters who will stand around the environs of an airport so they can take photo's and then place them on such sites enjoyed by other Topspotters.:E

Life's good when you can use your computer to look at Airline liveries you would not normally see from an airbridge!:ok:

TCX69 25th January 2012 21:22

the sight of BK in her new decals
Does G-OZBK have different decals then to say G-OZBT? What's the difference? Hoping there's some more yellow!

Mr @ Spotty M 26th January 2012 04:44

No, the decals are the same, no change to the decals as far as l am aware.
Just a slight variation in the main colours and positioning.
My guess is you will find it hard to notice the difference, it is due out of paint Friday.

Mr @ Spotty M 27th January 2012 15:42

Paint Correction

Aircraft is due out of paint on Saturday and not Friday as l previous reported.
I have found out more details of the changes in the paint scheme and would like to correct my previous post. :uhoh:
You would have to be blind to miss the changes that have been made to a/c G-OZBK when it emerges out of Air Livery.
However l am informed at this time, the next a/c will at this time appear in the old livery, but with what is referred to as the billboard titles. :ugh:

MKY661 27th January 2012 15:49

How bad is it? Looking forward to see it. Hoping for someone to upload it to a picture site so i can see it.

VIKING9 27th January 2012 17:19

I think it would be nice to see a 1970's retro livery on one of the A321's

Topspotter 29th January 2012 11:08

Your all going to have to wait a bit longer for the great moment, sources tell me one or two hitches have occured during BKs makeover:sad:

MKY661 29th January 2012 15:22

Links not working, so type in 'g-ozbk nik french' on google images to see it.

Benod 29th January 2012 16:18

I love it. I love the purple on the livery and I think it looks better with the yellow carried onto the tail

jethro15 29th January 2012 16:35

Sorry, it's a big thumbs down from me. The yellow, white and purple in that design just do not go together. Big mistake in my humble opinion

Benod 29th January 2012 16:41

Well, its a simple design, but its quite effective plus I think it looks much brighter and happier than the old livery, mainly with the dull crown before :)

ExpectmorePayless 29th January 2012 17:15

Oh dear. I hope they pull it back in the hangar quickly before anybody sees it.
My 5 year old could paint a better looking aeroplane for his teacher. :}
Bring back the yellow and indigo. And for god sake, get rid of the Spotty M
on the fuselage. :ugh:

Still what do you expect with a company now run by consultants and project managers. Everything has to keep changing (not necessarily for the better from what I hear) to keep them in a job. :hmm:

ZOOKER 29th January 2012 17:25

Was it done by Wolff-Olins by any chance?
You know, the 'London 2012' people.

Wardie73 29th January 2012 17:48

Jesus that's awful!!!!!

The colour's just don't work..... What a shame.

Skipness One Echo 29th January 2012 17:55

That's a complete car crash, nothing goes with anything. Utterly amatuer IMHO.

Navy blue or black would work well but that's just dreadful.

ZOOKER 29th January 2012 18:09

I KNEW that I had seen that colour combination somewhere before.
My Sainsbury's 'Necter Card' has just fallen out of my wallet.

It looks like a 'Hed Kandi' aeroplane without the pretty lady on the tail.

purplehelmet 29th January 2012 18:48

ive always thought of monarch's livery's as a bit old fashioned and a tad dull, although the last one was ok. but this new one  oh my god what have they done! that look's absolutely dreadful in so many way's.
please tell me its not finished yet and that that purple is just an undercoat right?

Mr @ Spotty M 29th January 2012 20:06

I did say you would have to be blind to not see the changes.
Topspotter, l don't think less than 4 1/2 hours is to long to wait.

Benod 29th January 2012 20:17

So will this livery be rolled out to the rest of the fleet then?!??

Mr @ Spotty M 29th January 2012 20:43

Benod

See my previous post #46 on the 27th.

student88 29th January 2012 20:57

I think it looks great!

Benod 29th January 2012 21:09

Thanks. I do agree that i like the revised livery but i cant understand why people disagree with it so much! Its only a small colour change and slight displacement with the layout of the colours!!

Topspotter 29th January 2012 23:36

What i meant spotty m is you wont see it in service when it should have been due to the problems found during the repaint;)

Mr @ Spotty M 30th January 2012 04:32

Benod

I think it is a little more than a slight displacement of the colours, the whole bloody tail is now mainly Yellow!!!.
I will know more within a few days what G-MRJK is going to look like, my understanding at the moment as per G-OZBK but with the tail white.
This might however change by the time it is finished.
Topspotter, now l know what you mean, but it did not come across that way as it is all over the web.

Benod 30th January 2012 06:45

Do you know if they are going to keep the purple on the livery aswell?

Georgeablelovehowindia 30th January 2012 07:34

What has that poor aircraft done to deserve this?

Well, I can only imagine that the flight operations director* - who is ex BA - has been on the same stuff that Ayling Bob was on when he approved those ridiculous fins.

Fortunately, reason prevailed at BA and let's hope that it does at Monarch - PDQ!! The current livery was/is perfectly OK while there are far more important things to be concentrating on.

* Or is he now the CEO? I've lost the plot in the flurry of the 'revolving doors.'

Edit: I've checked, his job-title is 'Managing Director.'

TCX69 30th January 2012 13:29

What is going on at Monarch? Seems like there is a bit of an identity crisis going on. Yet another variation of the livery, which makes what 6 now?

Change that purple back to indigo, take away the 'M' off the fuselage & would look Ok. Really don't like the purple colour though & the old double coloured 'M' looked much better!

Mr @ Spotty M 30th January 2012 16:07

TCX69

I don't know where your six comes from, l make it three.
However you might not be to far off with one of your suggestions. :ugh:

TCX69 30th January 2012 17:58

Admittedly, small differences, but there's A\C with FlyMonarch.com titles (JK), the 2 different styled old Monarch titles, monarch.co.uk titles, new billboard titles on old livery & the new livery. Maybe I'm just too sad for noticing! :{ lol

I hope someone changes their mind again & they keep the current livery! :D

Mr @ Spotty M 30th January 2012 20:02

TCX69

I forgot about those, could be more than six, three so far just using the billboard titles. :{

runway08 31st January 2012 00:50

Easily the worst colour combo I have ever seen in my life. What is that light purple pukage supposed to.. eh I dont even know how to word the question. What I am trying to say is Whisky Tango Foxtrot. :ugh:

TCX69 31st January 2012 11:13

So what is the reason that MRJK will be in a different livery again? I really just don't understand the need for the logo on the tail & fuselage, is too much! :ugh:

jungle jim 31st January 2012 17:36

Apparently the hideous reddy purple colour was applied in error, it should have been the current Monarch colour, indigo. Having seen a paint shop recreation using the old colour it is certainly a vast improvement.

Wardie73 31st January 2012 17:55

Yes the livery with indigo should work well.:ok:
I walked around "BK" today while it was parked in western maintenance area & it really does look awful.:yuk:

TCX69 31st January 2012 20:19

Much better! Hint Monarch, hint! ;)

ZOOKER 31st January 2012 20:41

"Hint MONARCH, hint".
Correct. NOT co.uk.

You don't walk down the High Street, (if you still have one), and see HSBC.com, or GREGGS.co.uk.
Utter cr*p.
