ATC Radar Colour Codes

Hi

Have just found this Heathrow Cam and I am curious to know what the different colours on the contacts are.

I'm sure red is for descending aircraft.

Is green climbing out and blue in cruise?

Not to sure.

Cheers

Hi,

The red lables are for clumbing aircraft ( you can see the rate of climb in the tag under the aircraft type) Green tags are desending aircraft and like the climbers you can see the rate of descent. Finally yes, the bule tags are for overflights/ level flight.

Thanks
Ben Leonard

What you are looking at is a screenshot from an AIRNAV Decoder (I have one too). The colours can be changed to your own settings. However as indicated in the previous post these are the default ones (I'm not sure if this is the same as ATC would see on their screens) .

Cheers

Wonder why the Jet Airways 773 is flying level at 700ft then, as I'm sure he wasn't cruising.

In the process of going around or is just descending at a shallow enough rate that the system cannot actually determine a climb/descent rate.

Thanks for all your replies.

Just another question.

What is the difference between the Ryanair 7240 at FL370 and the

SHTA182 at 4750ft?

Is it that one is climbing out and one in cruise?

Cheers

Exactly. I believe the +019 on the BA Shuttle shows it climbing at 1900ft/min.
