Coffee????
 

Why is it that you can not get a decent cup of coffee when you are sitting up front? Other than providing my own which I feel is an outrageous solution. Any comments on how to provide decent food and drink on the flight deck!!

Try night cargo where, at least in my organisation, you're lucky if there's 3 bottles of water to start a 5 sector night!

You take your own stuff or starve - lousy coffee indeed?!!?!

Perhaps you've upset the tea lady!

Use the following checklist - it works every time in my experience.

1. On first arriving at the aircraft, before the cc have had the chance to say 'there is no water pressure so you're not getting a drink', tell them you are switching on the APU just to keep them warm/cool (delete as appropriate).

2. Smile at them. :)

3. When they ask you if you'd like a drink, say 'tea, 2sugarsplease'. (none of this coffee crap).

Now here comes the important bit.

4. Be polite at all times.

The result is an excellent cup of tea every time from someone who does a far better job with a teabag than I do. (I don't have the patience to dunk it long enough).

Absolutely right, Pandora. I would add one other. If you are on multi-sector short haul, make the cabin crew a drink on the turnround (at least offer, perhaps they know your coffee/tea is cr*p). It's often their only chance to stop for a few minutes. Keep them happy, avoids having your teabag wiped round the toilet bowl before use.

I was on a 747 turnaround one day and the capt and f/o made the whole crew sit down and not only made us tea and coffee but served the crew meals as well. In ten years of flying i never heard of a flight deck crew whinging about drinks/food service. if we were busy they would get it themselves, appreciating the fact that cabin crew were on board to serve the passengers first.

I have had few occassions where the cabin crew have had tea/coffee made for us, and we always appreciate it.
ex cabin crew, I've never had anybody complain about the drinks I make for them either, (but do sometimes get asked for it to be stronger/weaker/more milk next time, but equally often "just the same as the last one, please".)

Ever noticed when you don't ask politely how the brew seems to turn up frothy?!
