LGW security

Positioning LGW-MAN today, full uniform,ID etc.Leatherman tool well spotted in flight bag, approved by DTI as tool of trade according to recent info. Was confiscated by security because I was travelling as pax with no hold baggage in which to place said item. Now faced with a £5 /retrieval fee and £4 post and package charge.Any comments?.

Surely that applies to positioning crew, as you are on a duty ticket, not standby staff ticket etc?

I say argue to get it back free.
