Heard on the R/T Sunday morning about 01:00 at ALC/Ground.

ALC Tower: Shamrock xxxx you have 6 minutes until your slot runs out.
Shamrock: Roger. Why 6 minutes?
ALC Tower: Your slot was at 00:10GMT, it's now 00:14GMT. 00:10 plus 10 minutes is 00:20 Sir.
Shamrock: We'll be ready in 5 minutes - do we need a push from here [they're on a pier and a 737] or can we drive out?
ALC Tower: You can drive Sir.
Shamrock: OK. Request Taxi.
ALC Tower: Shamrock xxxx you are cleared to taxi to runway 10 holding point.
Shamrock: Roger, taxi to 10 holding point.

...pause of two minutes with GB Airways requesting taxi and being told they'd missed their slot by 2 minutes and to request a new one, request denied.

Shamrock: ALC tower, request clearence information.
ALC Tower: Depart Valencia [can't remember clearence] initally 5,000.
Shamrock: Roger, Valencia .... initially 5,000.
ALC Tower: Shamrock you have two minutes remaining, do you intend moving from your parking position.
Shamrock: Er..Er...request Taxi clearence.
ALC Tower: [firm but polite] you are clared to taxi, runway 10 holding point.

...engines start...Shamrock now moving....

...one minute later...

ALC Tower: Shamrock xxxx did my taxi instructions make sense?
Shamrock: Yes they did
ALC Tower: Why are you taxying to Runway 28 Sir?, suggest you backtrack. Do you know your way around ALC Sir, it's very easy - we only have 2 runways and 2 other departing aircraft were in front of you - didn't you get the hint that you were going the wrong way by the way they took off?
Shamrock: We thought Runway 28 was in use
ALC Tower: No Sir. Stop, backtrack. You are cleared to backtrack. Do so immediately.
ALC Tower: By the way, your slot expired one minute ago.
Shamrock: Can you get us a new one?
ALC Tower: Contact your company Sir. Suggest you wait at the holding point for Runway 10.
