TRANSAER ARE NO MORE ??
 

Radio news this afternoon says that Transaer are now in liquidation with operations ceasing today. If true, this is terrible news and i hope everything works out for those guys there ....

Definitely gone, it's happened within the last hour.

THEY HAVE HAVE THEY?

Are these the same Transaer operating the A320s in Libya?

MFALK...Yes, they are the same operation.

ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY PLANES THEY HAD?

Do you know if Transaer own those A320s or are they from a leasing company?

I met a pilot from that operation once and the pay wasn't bad although there is little to do in Tripoli in any free time available.

Very sad news for all the staff!!!

It just goes to show you may think you've had a good year but it can still go all wrong for you.

TransAer, the Irish based independent
charter airline, is to apply to the
High Court for the appointment of a
provisional liquidator.

The decision follows the failure of the
airline to secure additional investment
to secure the viability of the business

TransAer sustained significant losses
last year as a result of the conflict
in Kosovo which had a negative impact
on the Greek, German and Turkish
markets where TransAer operated.

The company also recorded heavy losses
as a result of a $20million investment
in the US airline TransMeredian.

You would have to wonder, is this the first of a number. With the current fuel situation the way it is and most airlines facing increasing pressure from the tour operators it is probably realistic to expect another one or ???

Eh??? I thought that they were buying or merging with - or being taken over by - HeavyLift.

I guess they won't be taking Aer Lingus' A330s, then!

Justin, you're oversensitive - I was just making a point about the major debate that was on here about them taking over the EI A330s some time back.

For what it was worth, I was there, have done that and still have the T shirt, having joined Laker Airways in early December 1981.

My commiserations to those affected, and I hope that they find alternative employment in the near future. At least unlike when GK went down, there isn't a recession.

I am very sorry to hear this very sad news.
To my former colleagues I wish you all the very best. I hope that most of you are able to find alternative employment soon. Ireland has lost a great company. I remain in the hope that PJ will somehow get something else going.

A terrible loss to the 540 people employed by TransAer - Their aircraft were leased Orix repossesed their aircraft yesterday and today - a number are in Libya, Cuba and France - Britannia is operating one from STN. The A300s are just as widely spread. I only wish that we had more vacancies at the moment - my best wishes and hopes to all affected.

Saw the A320 on the ramp there only yesterday - I'm sure PJ will be able to pull something from up his sleeve - not sure what in these circumstances though. My only hope is that he doesn't get screwed by the media and courts - TransAer owe a lot of money to a lot of people

Anothr sad day indeed. Transaer did have some 320's with Brits this Summer. It was also alledged their on time performance was better than Brits.

A Very Sad Day Indeed.This airline has a Great bunch of people flying for them. I wish them all the Luck in getting started again somewhere else.

Bad news really, however there are plenty
of jobs in Ireland at the moment for the
ground staff, maybe not so many airline
jobs though.
As for the pilots, well Airbus ratings are popular.

Guvnor. I would have thought this represents
and opportunity for you. A niche to be
filled with L1011's, maybe?

One way or another someone will replace
Transaer.
