"Finest Hour" - the book

Apparently this was a BBC series in 2000, but a paperback is out of the same name. Two words: "Get it".

Absolutley superb and moving accounts of WW2 from the BEF withdrawal to the Battle of Britain. The best thing is it's taken from many different perspectives, from infantry to child evacuees.

A magnificent read, and one of those "can't put down" books. Now to buy the videos.

On another note, the Imperial War Museum has a great online exhibit section which is worht a visit if not the place itself. Churchill got it right about so much, so few so many.

Lest we forget

Finest Hour was a brilliant documentary series, it was aired here in early this year. It had accounts from not only combatants (soldiers, sailors and airmen and a score of other corps and forces), but also from people living as civilians at the time. A worthwhile series, particularly enjoyed the episode about the Battle of Britain.
