Your help is requested

I am involved in the start-up of a new service to Lagos and would appreciate any information those of you who are regular visitors could give me on what to expect, apart from don’t do it
Specifically I need information on:
Safety issues airframe, crew and ground staff.
Local issues/customs
Local handling expertise
Baggage handling
Also any recommendation’s you may have for hotels

Also is there anyone from Shell out there who fly’s into Lagos on a regular basis.

Lagos, oh great, you will enjoy (...), just hope you have the nerves...

Safety issues? Well I guess the word safety doesn't mean a lot down there. The airport (and the city...) are on the black list. ATC, navaids, com, rwy lighting, all unreliable. Weather can also be quite a challenge.
Crew and ground staff, locals? If yes, then beware... imported staff (expats), then expensive...
Local issues, customs? If you have the $$$$ then you can do anything.
Hotels, if you can afford it, the best bet is the Sheraton which is like an oasis in this place and quite close to the airport. Good beer in the Goodies :)
Places to go out, the Alibaba (good luck ;) ), the Crocodile and some others.

Handling - NAHCO, forget Nigeria Airways

Hotel - Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Sheraton is no where near as good as it used to be and refurbished Eko is nicer place to stay.

Clubs - I think Alibaba and Crocodile closed a long time ago...Aerocontractors compound in GRA Ikeja is a good drinking crowd...

Near the Eko Hotel, good curry house/snooker club called the Flamingo, the After Hours restaurant - excellent good value food overlooking the Five Cowrie Creek, if you get an invite the Lagos Yacht Club, further afield in Apapa 'The Pub' run by an English guy with real English beer, good for Saturday afternoon watching the footy...
