Ahh Tunny, you didn't the BOAC VC10 at the White Waltham display in May 1977. Came in from Woodley and 'sat' on ground effect at about 10-15 feet for the whole mile of WW's airfield - twice!

THAT was the best bit of flying I have seen.

try looking at

www.yakpilots.org/aerobatics

ther is an mpeg of Jurgis Kairys from Lithuania flying inverted under a bridge with the crowds on the bridge.

I could not download the mpeg until i opened the mpeg playeer and went FILE OPEN and inputed the url http://www.yakpilots.org/kairys.mpe

I think you will agree that he is pretty tasty at flying

Captain Airclues 23rd January 2001 00:46

Was the lack of gear deliberate?

meslag,

great video. I remember seeing it for the first time on the news and thinking that this bloke was not quite all there up top. None the less, some nice stick and rudder skills.

Going aerobatics flying this afternoon, but I can assure you I'll be using the standard 3000ft buffer as opposed to the 3ft buffer. :)

If anyone else has links to more mpegs, I'd love to see them.

Have a good one, Dave.

Flying is easy - just throw yourself at the ground and miss.

You sure it's not just a go-around from a Cat 3 approach? :) :)

Yup that is tasty flying indeed thanks

ExSimGuy 23rd January 2001 13:28

He couldn't put the gear down - there wasn't enough room :) :) :)

What Goes Around . . . . .
. . often makes a better landing

The SAA B747 is a great pic but looking at it closely, I'm not sure he is as low as it looks I suspect the telescoping you get from telephoto type lens may be responsible??
Can anyone give me the diameter of the engines and the distance between both outers I want to try a bit of math to see if I can work out the probable height.

cheers

Good one Tunny

I was there and it was pretty impressive. Location is Durban Virginia Airport and he was out over the beach. It took place during a local airshow.

"100, 60, 50",...Sh**e!, Go around, its a ****ing beach!
Set power, set flap, positive rate gear up.
Check that ILS ident. again, Hoskins.
