Any one know why we have to get a view of the turkey in the cockpit patting himself on the back while he flies a type the rest of us would like to see from the outside?
|
Right thats settled then...Brendans got to go!.....Can I have his job then?....Please
  ------------------ GET THE BLOODY NOSE DOWN! |
Isn't this getting just a little too personal? By all means criticise his performance on television, but is it really fair to launch such personal attacks on the man?
Evanelpus's criticism of Brendan's performance on television is obviously shared by many others. I haven't seen the programme - but I can easily imagine! I've not seen Brendan for some years, but the descriptions given by Dave_Jones49 (page 1) and now Vmike, are exactly what I remember of him from my days at the Tiger Club and, later, on the display circuit - strengths and weaknesses. He's obviously irritated Speedbird48 badly somewhere along the line to prompt such a nasty post. (Correction: two nasty posts - Speedbird remembered something he forgot to mention in his first post. Ed.) But Speedird48 and Brendan are clearly very different people. For all his "When I was .... " stories, I can't recall a single occasion when I heard Brendan running down anyone else's flying ability - or character. Time to call it a day, guys? |
To flying lawyer:
V. sensible suggestion. I think the man is a p**t, but there are a lot of us about. Leave him alone and let`s watch the pretty aeroplanes which is the purpose of the programme. |
The dreaded Brendan was last heard of trying to get aboard an Iclandic outfit that runs 747's.
That seems to have failed as he has been seen around too often to have a real job but then he wouldn't know what a real job was?? The main thing is that he is not on the TV any more. Anyone remember the time he hit the cab of the truck with a Cub? Not such an expert!! |
Vmike, I stand by what I say too. I have known Brendan since the early 70's at Biggin Hill, and I have seen the best and the worst come and go at the Tiger Club, I was a check pilot there for a few years.
I never said that Brendan wasn't a good pilot, he is. That is what is so annoying, he's very good but he loves telling everyone he is. That get's up my nose. And I will accept that socially he is great to be around, albeit in small doses - now and again - in the same evening. As for 20k hours, 30 years, 900hrs max p.a. possible, several years display flying, 300hrs p.a. max - not likely in my view. Anyway, OK, put it this way, if Brendan let his flying do the talking...............I think I will rest my case. Especially as when having a pleasant drink with our learned friend, Flying Lawyer, recently I knew our paths had crossed before - and couldn't remember - I do now? Now THERE is a gentleman flyer! I do, however, agree with him that it is time to ease off now - especially the slagging, that is not necessary. [This message has been edited by InFinRetirement (edited 11 February 2001).] |
Speedbird48 (of Waynesboro, USA!)
You ask "Anyone remember the time he hit the cab of the truck with a Cub? Not such an expert!!" No, I don't. And I don't know (or even care) whether it's true. But, as you've now mentioned it no less than three times, it's obviously very important to you, for some strange reason. If it's true, he's not the first display pilot to have an incident, and he won't be the last. Unlike you, most pilots' reaction when an incident happens is just to be pleased that no-one died. And, as you may have read from others, his truck-top landing act was superb. To all other Pruners: Everyone's had their chance to say what they think about B O'B's television style. He's clearly not the most popular presenter with other aviators! I suggest we take Flying Lawyer's sensible suggestion, and let it drop. We shouldn't allow PPRuNe to be used for personal attacks. This thread is now being used by Speedbird48 to carry on his personal grudge / hate campaign. If he wants to keep going, let him do it on his own. There are, unfortunately, sad pathetic individuals in life. Speedbird is obviously one of them. PS: No axe to grind here. Never met B O'B, and couldn't care less what he's like off-screen. |
The dreaded "Bend'em Brendan" was last seen or rather heard going for a job with an Icelandic outfit with 747's. It doesn't seem to have worked out so be prepared to see his obnoxious self on the TV once more.
OR, how to ruin a good TV show!! Anyone remember that day he hit the cab of the truck while doing the Cub routine. I believe Ford were not too pleased as it was a new one. |
Personal attacks on anyone on PPRuNe are very much frowned upon and are not allowed. NO slagging off please. There is no need for it and if it continues it will persaude me to close the thread.
Be nice - it doesn't cost anything! PPRuNe Pop Moderator [email protected] |
Well......
That went down like a t urd in a punch bowl... |
I might not have been paying too much attention the other evening, (I`m an ATCO) but I`m sure I heard the man say that the Curtiss Pusher was the worlds first pusher aircraft. I wonder what the Wright brothers would make of that.
