The price of freedom?
Not to go off the subject of aviation too much, but in light of recent events...I was listening to the news and heard a few
people talking about how the internet makes it so easy for people to obtain information about anything, including building bombs, biological weapons and other info that could be used by anybody who would want to perpetrate mass destruction and terrorism. In addition, the nature of the internet makes it easier than ever for people to communicate anonymously with others, for good or bad. It seems there is a fine line between freedom and security and that to have one may mean giving up some of the other. The question is this, should we live in a society where our private affairs are more closely monitored by government in the name of safety, or do we accept a certain inherent risk that comes with being able to be left alone in a free society. I'm afraid that the terrible incident in New York may be the ultimate cost of living in the "free world". :( ------------------------- "Hey, whaddya suppose that mountain goat is doing up here in the clouds"? |
