Never mind all that - I thought ths was the Spotters column not the point scorers - and anyway the Airbus week has been pretty good so far - that's an understatement btw.
The Travolta QF liveried 707 is at LBG today, parked over at Dugny. Didn't see it yesterday but it's there this morning.
And the Breitling Connie sounds just wonderful.

Well, well another long week.

The intention behind the thread was to nurture interest in the displays both static and flying - sorry Mr Mod but making it a sticky, with your best intentions, it was inevitably going to become a Airbus vs Boeing thing.

From my point of view it is now clear that Farnborough is an Airshow with a bit of business associated and Paris is a great deal of business with a bit of flying thrown in for fun.

I know which I prefer.

Without a chalet invitation, I didn't find anywhere decent from which to watch the flying. Wasn't there once a 'public lawn' with a view of the runway? I ended up by the rope on the main taxiway, where the crowds had to be parted whenever there was a movement into or out of the static park. One poor chap was knocked down by one of the toy trains.
Two new types flew on Tuesday - the Antonov An-148 and the Bell Agusta BA609; vintage types included the Fouga Magister, AMX and Tornado ;)

As a side note, this reminds me of the article in the newspaper two days ago which described the intense competition for the future US Air Force tanker contract, to replace the KC-135 (and KC-10?).

US politicians, mostly from Alabama, for example Senator Selby, were flown in a chartered Boeing jet to Toulouse, France.
EADS hopes to build the future tanker in Mobile, AL.

One or two of these politicians sit on influential committees in Washington, DC.

When billions of euros/dollars are at stake, some foreign politicians are suddenly becoming friendlier than usual.;)

- well it won't and hasn't! I'm afraid it (the thread and possbly the show) just has not generated much interest and will probably be 'de-stickied' soon.

Of course, it does not need a 'sticky' to start an AvB war:)

I was there yesterday and the flying was delayed for a little while as a sparkler was underway that drenched a lot of us. We did take a brolly but it wasn't enough. (Dried out enough to see the second half of the display from the company's chalet)

The Rafale's demo was incredible, the A380 was amazing. The Tornado and other mil jets loud. (I like loud!)

Watching the Mig do it's thing was very cool. However, it lost one during the display and had to cut it short.

We were also there yesterday we were one of the lucky ones we hardly felt the rain at all.
A good turnout from the public by the look of the numbers, shame the flying display had some holes in it but a good turn out on the staic.
A number of aircraft were pulled out for some reason or another.
The Dash 8 400 Logo prop of flymaybe was required for company schedules due tech aircraft, at the moment this aircraft is flying out of Birmingham with a BIG No 35 on the side which was the Air Show number.
