Favourite looking flight deck?
Whats yours?
|
Since this will no doubt head to JetBlast or Spotters...
There used to be a bar in my part of the world called the "Cockpit Inn" The beer taps were the throttles (and entire center console) from a DC6. One way or another, they're all the same. Slightly larger, slightly smaller... |
Hmmm, considering the DC-6 had eight throttles, this must have been one heck of a bar.
Having actually flown the DC-6, it was one heck of a fine aeroplane, as well. Very reliable.:ok: |

Well if you want a spacious and well appointed flighgtdeck try Port Alberni, Vancouver Island.
Home to Forest Flying Tankers who operate the divine Martin Mars firebombers what I was priviledged to visit a few years ago. Huge flightdeck, oscillascopes, dials gauges, the works, wonderful :ok: |
When you're my size, bigger is definately better. Hated the 747 -too small, never got comfortable and didn't like the slits for windows. The VC10 was good even though it had four occupants. But love the Airbus. No control column to get in the way of the important things such as eating and reading the paper. And the table - brilliant!

The Short Belfast flightdeck was enormous and certainly takes a lot of beating.
|
Yep, the good 'ole TriStar is nice alright.
The largest FD I have ever personally noticed was the one on the Lockheed Constitution, a 4-engine transport built for the US Navy a long time ago. Eight seats...and room for a small orchestra, to boot. Compared to this, the Stratocruiser was a tad tight.:\ |
...And the Spruce Goose flight deck was enormous, if only it could fly. :ooh:
|
Guys i said, 'what is the best looking flight deck', not which one has the most space.
|
Has to be the DC4 for the classic or the bus 319/20etc for the modern... Mmmm... buttons... lights... so pretty:sad:
|
Airbus gets my vote :ok: I also like the B727 cockpit :)
|
Cessna 152 for me! :}

|
For me it has to be the ATR cockpit, after speaking to my previous instructor who now works for aer arran he said its allways busy and 7/10 times something will happen either with hydraylics ETCETC so there is allways something to do :p :p :p

It's gotta be the Boeing 757/767 without a shadow of a doubt!!
If i'm being picky it would have to be the flight deck of a First Choice Airways jet!!:ooh: Regards JetSetJ:ok: |
MD-11, no doubt! Roomy, quiet, beautiful large screens, HUGE side windows. The view doesn't get any better than this: http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/open.file/1013751/L/ (the observer seat being the best seat in the plane).
