Concorde Airborne!?

Yesterday at c 13.40pm whilst standing in the garden of my brother in law south of Swindon in Broadtown not far from RAF Lyneham a familiar roar overhead flying east -west very low but unfortunately above cloud level was the unmistakeable sound of crackling Concorde engines. Could this have been so or is there another aircraft operated by the RAF that makes a similar noise when airborne?

Concorde is no longer in service :uhoh::sad::{

Maybe it was some sort of military jet like a Tornado, i've seen them escort the queens BAe 146 out of Lynham in the past.

Vickers Funbus of course sounds pretty similar when at high power settings :ok:

yep I would agree with Wycombe...I have heard that distinctive howl a few times since Nov. 2003, and yes it was a VC10 (queen of the skies!) every time!
