hanger vists
 

hi all, anyone ever managed to wrangle a vist to a maintenence hanger? i live quite close to man airport and both monarch and my travel have large facilities there, i would imagine a chance to vist and see the aircraft being mantained close up would be fascinating

And, just for your future reference, it's a hangar and not a hanger. Common mistake made by too many spotters I'm afraid. ;)

what a muppet!, does it really matter how he spelt it for gods sake? we all know where hes coming from, on a more helpfull note longbow i have in the past taken the odd visitor around the my travel hangar at man i will see what the suituation is at present and pm you

How about structuring your sentences, using capitals where required and using the odd burst of punctuation?

A bit of gentle grammar/spelling correction never does anybody any harm so long asit isn't aggressive, 'tis how we all learn after all; AvMan is correct, plenty of people do spell Hangar incorrectly including my mates who design 'em for a living...

Sabre, ....the only one doing any 'chopping' or looking for an argument here is you lad! Rainboe's life is just fine thank you, & no BS to anyone- just trying to get us all remembering our grammar in the gentlest way. I'm sorry that you were offended by my correcting your spelling error. I do not profess to be the world's greatest authority either in English spelling or grammar. I simply thought that, as an obvious aviation enthusiast, it might interest you to spell a common aviation word correctly. Just the same as so many people get irritated at the common mispelling of Britannia Airways as "Brittania Airways".

Dear MR LONGBOW1, I meant no offence to anyone and I'm sorry that you took minor umbrage at our attempts to gently draw attention to bad grammar practice. I think it is important whilst we are only typing in this medium, we try and steer a steady course in the use of English and not let all grammar rules go by the wayside and pretend correct English useage is no longer important. This appears to be what happened in English schools and hence we walk past market stalls now with cards written up on them saying "Orange's 25p", "Potatoe's" etc. The English apostrophe is truly outof control these days! The French have the Academie Francais to keep them talking French like what it should be spoke, and I do think we should have a sort of English Gestapo going around sending people back for 're-education' at Concentrated (Education) Camps. So although you don't find it important, some of us hate the teeth-jarring things we see, like the French comments above. Call us 'Obsessives'.

And if LONGBOW want's to make a career in a Hangar, then the examples of good natured p1ss taking he's seen here are chuffin mild! If he/she does want to make a career out of it there is as I understand it, a dearth of newly qualified or even interested chaps/esses in making aircraft maintainance a career. So whilst not a job for life in the traditional sense, it may be more satisfying than sitting in a call centre all day waiting to be outsourced offshore.
