Emergency landing at EGFF?
I was watching the breakfast news this morning, it said extra fire crews were on their way to Cardiff to deal with a serious incoming emergency.
Turned out to be a bird strike, involving a simple return to EGFF. |
You set up an account to mention that?
 |
Thanks mate, same here, coffee in bed watching the news.
They were saying "engine problem". Has the bird gone through the engine??? Does anyone know? moist |

What are you on about? He's set up his "account" 9 days ago. He wouldn't have known about the birdstrike then! You're a spring chicken too I see.................... |
Hi Tom24.
Yes, I was lying in bed with the news on. I got up ran to my PC, and joined the first forum I could find. :ok: Only kidding, been registered a while, just never find the point in entering the endless Boeing V Airbus disputes. AIRBUS ALL THE WAY:p |
Has the aircraft landed yet? Which airline?
|
bmibaby WW5951 Cardiff - Paris
Aircraft on ground. No dramas. PAX awaiting replacement a/c. Story here...

Replacement aircraft?????
Will this have a knock on effect on the rest of the day??? |
after being hit by a bird |
Funny isnt it.
If a car ran a pedestrian over you wouldnt say "The car was hit by a person", but the other way round. Birds though.... poor buggers. What a wonderful language we have ! Edit to say - it seems the BBC have humour this am : The aircraft involved was a BMI Baby one.... The aircraft landed at 0758 and the passengers, who include one baby, are waiting in the departure lounge. |
what a nighmare does anyone know which aircraft was involved and which one did the replacement - id it Titan?
|
"Firefighters are inspecting the aircraft in case of any damage".
I'd prefer to see it done by a qualified engineer myself! |
We did have the engineer with us ! few bent compressor blades and strong smell of cooked sea gull! Very impressive landing considering the situation & strong x-wind .Well done to the crew.:)

The honeymoon couple on the news made me laugh.
The plain was shaking and I could smell burning and was really scared. It sounded like the engines just stoped. Terrified I was. |
I think you'll find the honeymooning couple also added the post script...
"isn't it? wasn't it? doesn't it? didn't it?" ...And then went home to their children, demonstrating that traditional Welsh way of having children and then seeing if they still get on. If they do, they get married, now there's lovely. If the engine had stopped then what the f*** was making all that noise? Look You |
Bit harsh I say! I suppose the aircraft was just minding it's own business when this criminally reckless bird flew at it... |
Apparently a KLM Fokker was hit by a sea gull the previous day on landing at Cardiff. The bird survived and then attacked the ATC rover which came to its assistance. Does any one know if it was the same bird?
|
Look You
I find the anti-welsh sentiment on your first post rather offensive. Welsh people don't ALL talk like that and some of them form perfectly stable, long term relationships in the traditional manner, some of them with other humans even. Your sweeping generalisations do you no credit. They will do little to remove our belief in ourselves as a great nation, who could stand on our own 2 feet, without help or interference from England, and go on from strength to strength. Furthermore you know nothing about aircraft. If one engine had stopped, the other 2 on the 737 would still be making lots of noise! Baa |

All right then, they are not THAT noisy. But with 2 engines still running, i think it wouldn't exactly have gone quiet!
