Diversion to Israel?

I heard from another board that an egyptian a/c has made an emergency landing in Israel. No details at all. Anyone know anything?

Why would there be a problem with this? They are not at war...at least not a hot one.

For those not around or asleep since 1978, Israel, Egypt and Jordan have diplomatic relations with each other. An emergency landing might cause distress in some circles but none diplomatically. In any case, better to be safe on the ground, anywhere.

FYI, El Al have a twice weekly service btween Tel Aviv and Cairo. The two countries have had diplomatic relations for over 26 years.

Israel & Jordan also have current aviation links and secure channels between the two. It is the arab countries where no "sufficient" diplomatic links of a security nature exist that become problematic and they will not let aircraft land to Israel.
