BA951 TOGA at LHR
 
Just saw a BA flight from my house in a very unusual position and relatively low altitude. FR suggests BA951 performed a go around at LHR. Seems to have safely landed now.

I will not speculate without knowing facts, and I am cognisant that FR is not designed for accuracy. I am not privy to scheduling changes due to Mondays airspace closure, and I am aware that ATC would never compromise to compensate. I noted that today is the first time I have seen an aircraft about to touch down on 27R while FR also showing another aircraft about to exit the runway. Not this one though.

Probably, as you imply, nothing to see here.

mjbarnard, this is more suited for the spotters forum. However, it is nothing unusual. Happens at LHR almost every day, sometimes more than once a day. There can be several common reasons for this. It is certainly not newsworthy in 99.99% of cases.

I was on board this flight, no drama, crew explained they were caught by an unexpected gust of wind just before touching down, TOGA and landed safely 15 mins later.

There are roughly 10 go-arounds per week at LHR.

Thanks for this. From my balcony I can see planes landing (06L) or taking off (24R) from PMI, which at the height of the summer season has about 70% of the daily number of landings of LHR. The other day I saw two aircraft go around on landing within half an hour of each other and wondered if they were connected. There was no wind as far as I could tell, so maybe it was just coincidence of two "miscellaneous" reasons in the sane evening.

Palma ATC is notorious for poor spacing of aircraft, leading to go-arounds due to the preceeding aircraft not having vacated the runway.

Atc on the other hand said it was caused by a pilot not vacating the runway fast enough to suit atc‘s fabulous spacing.

Last time I was at Palma, you could only land on 24L and depart from 06R due to there being a huge earth bank at one end of the runway
