An A318 which flew from London City to JFK flight number BA1 - same as Concorde. |
Titan have got one from BA. It's doing sterling work flying to St Helena.

.....or not fly at all due to video conferencing.

That's a good point, but it would seem that the financial industry is heading towards a leaner more focused way of operating. Yes, face to face meetings will occur, but perhaps only on a reduced scale that will not be enough to warrant transatlantic business/first flights on the scale witnessed over the last 30 years.

Video conferencing is fine for one-to-one meetings, when you are in (approx) the same time-zones. But the window for UK to Japan, UK to Australia or even UK to West Coast US are narrow... Now, try and schedule a three way meeting with participants in California (GMT-7), London (GMT+1) and Tokyo (GMT+9). I'm having to cope with 5am and 10pm meetings :( Often in the same day, and on back-to-back days. Frankly it is messing with the last vestiges of my sanity! Also, it is not really viable to be on an online meeting for more than a couple of hours, and multiway conversations are not practical. Sure, Zoom/WebEx/Teams/Skype have a place, but face-to-face is more effective. |
