I was lucky enough to see it as well, and as you say it very kindly passed over the more central part of London and chose a bit of the sky that didn't have the clouds. How often it's the other way around!
Have I heard correctly and Biden is on the way over to the UK ? If so, when and what will it mean for support aircraft movements during that time ? |

Edit: very nice, straight over the top, even found a gap in the clouds! My dusty tome of military "pots" says I saw it somewhere sometime when it was presumably a straight tanker but the exact date/location is missing - probably a Mildenhall Air Fete... |
Yeah Biden coming next week so Wallace can biff him on the hooter. Some Chinooks already at Northolt and I've heard VH-3s have arrived too. Saw some vid of Armoured Limos arriving at Stansted courtesy C-17s several days ago. E-4? :)

JEEZ!! Me and wife just jumped a mile in the air as something screamed low overhead! I caught a glimpse of something ...

Just buzzing Silverstone now at below 500ft !

Just looking at Shoreham's webcam, a deer grazing by the PAPIs. Sweet! Something spooked it, why there's Mr Fox trotting up the side of the runway. I presume flying has ceased for the day...

Just noticed a 524th SOS C-146A Wolfhound heading 123şish north of York en route to ? from Keflavik.

A Lufthansa 747 slipped into LHR earlier today, most likely a medical diversion.

On Tuesday last week there were two C17s direct from the USA (Dover AFB) to drop-off two VH-3Ds. On Thursday they all went flying ... up to regents Park, down to Windsor, and some up to Stansted, all escorted by the MetPol EC145. So, that pretty much confirms that AF1 will land at Stansted, and Pres Biden will meet with KC III at Windsor. According to the media Biden is 'due in the UK on the 9th and 10th, but I have not yet seen any info on when AF1 arrives - it might be v.early on Sunday morning? Pres Biden is due in Lithuania on Tuesday for a NATO meeting, but I do not know if he will leave the UK on Monday or v.early Tuesday morning. However, it is likely that there will be more C17s into Northolt on Tuesday to collect the VH3Ds. I would expect the CH47s to return to Germany at about the same time. |
FR24 reported a C-17 as leaving North Weald this morning. Confusing it with STN, or did it really happen?
|
It'll be Stansted, stuff for Biden's visit I should imagine...
|
There's been a good few C17/s going in and out of STN in the last few days. I wonder if a loaded C17 could land or take off from North Weald (Hypothetically) ?

Was wondering what all these helicopters were doing dashing all over the place with call signs like "White 01" and "Orange 02" and "YY11". No where near Wimbledon... Oh, I see where they are going, there's to be a procession at Silverstone later to day! Best not comment on the irony of Mr Hamilton's latest considered pronouncement...
