should be 07:47 iyam.

DaveReidUK 7th Oct 2020 18:56

Latest I've seen is a simultaneous departure at 08:30 local, with the aircraft that departs on 27L performing a circuit followed by a pass, also on 27L, at 08:47 (07:47 UTC).

Only one of the two is bound for Kemble, with the other going to St Athan.

BirdmanBerry 8th Oct 2020 06:36

I didn't think it was set in stone but Kemble seem to be awaiting two and the rumour being one 747 will be sited intact at the airfield.

Is VY doing a circuit to the south at 4000ft? Now lined up for an approach again.

JAVELINBOY 8th Oct 2020 08:02

Saw that as well, did a fly by at around 700ft down the runway then off to St Athan.
Just spotted him flying down the Severn towards Cardiff 09:25.

Trinity 09L 8th Oct 2020 08:14

BBC transport correspondent unable to find about that

Hot 'n' High 8th Oct 2020 09:17

VB looks like it's on the ground at Kemble. :hmm: Sad day. Also, I still recall the place when there were Argosies, Brits, Andovers etc all being retired. Same role, different aircraft sadly. Ah well. H 'n' H

That was always the plan. It performed a slow flypast over 27L at just under 500'. Hopefully there will be some photos of that in due course.

Dan Dare 8th Oct 2020 13:31

I can't give you photos, but how about a video?

Thanks - very nice !

Out of interest what happened to the one painted in BOAC colours? What a waste of all that money, time & effort if it's gone to the scrappy.

I believe it is presently stored at Cardiff.

Yes, if only they could have predicted when they painted it that within 18 months the airline industry would be on its knees.

Lets hope all 3x Retros get saved, BNLY Landor and BYGC (BOAC) are both parked at Cardiff CWL with several other fleet liveried 74s

An unusual visitor yesterday in the form of Sunday Airlines and a 767. Can't say I've ever heard of them before, in and out of Alma-Ata.

trident3A 5th Nov 2020 14:21

Pretty sure I saw a 727 come in yesterday afternoon, didn't show up on PlaneFinder - anyone know what it was?

There hasn't been a 727 at LHR since 2016, I'm afraid.

The only three-holer that I'm aware of yesterday was a Falcon 7X into Farnborough about 13:30 - not wishing to cast aspersions on your aircraft recognition skills !

While not a 727, there was a Global 6000 (LX-ZAK) due in at around 15:00. Not showing up on Planefinder or FR24.

DaveReidUK 5th Nov 2020 19:38

The two tracks in question:

No overlap, so the flightpaths may help the OP to deduce which one they saw (if either).

trident3A 5th Nov 2020 22:11

It was certainly a T-tail and it was westbound on approach to Heathrow so it must have been the Global 6000 - I only saw it from the rear quarter. Thanks both!
