Turbulence over Bay of Biscay?
 
Flown over this area last night and experienced quite a bit of turbulence.

As as far as I can recall most of my flights over this area in the past have been turbulent. Much more than Atlantic crossings.

Is there reason as to why this area is so turbulent?

Strong jetstream presently affecting this area which may be the reason.

In my several jaunts to Spain and Portugal I've noticed this as well. Definitely seems to be more bumpy in that neck of the woods.

The Bay of Biscay has notoriety amongst seafarers. Maybe some correlation there.
