2 Learjets and 2 PC 9 overhead the Baltic Sea 16 June

Yesterday for approx 2 hours (between 10-12 lt), 2 Learjets flew these quite strange patterns. For some of the time they were accompanied by 2 PC 9.

The Learjets departed and returned to EPOK Gdynia-Kosakowo Airport

Any idea what they were doing ?

Was it MLAT or not? If MLAT, I would say they were military in nature. Otherwise, test flights? Though thats a lot of aircraft for some testing....

I think they were spying on us here in Sweden! Clearly...

Looks like target towing for air gunnery practice....

Maybe this mob?

Looks like EPOK is (currently) a military only airbase.

A Learjet was based at EGPE Inverness, Scotland, during a recent military exercise. A large number of pods were in the hangar, attached for various electronic simulation purposes.
Civil contractor for military electronic simulation?
PS Do we know the aircraft type on the squawk is genuine?

In the absence of a flightplan, the squawk doesn't contain any data that can identify the aircraft involved.

The OP, despite posting half a dozen screenshots, has managed to avoid providing any identifying data such as tail number or ICAO24 (perhaps we're being teased).

That said, since the images purport to show both a Learjet 35A and a 36A, they are probably from the fleet operated by GFD.

Doesnt look like, with all of the other traffic shown, there was a TFR in place...

Maoraigh1 18th Jun 2019 20:12

Altitude difference? TFR below civil traffic.

There is a huge NATO exercise/deployment ongoing in the Baltic area, this must be linked as adversary provision.
