Beluga XL

Wonder if anybody seen it. First visit to the UK today, flew in across Filton, done a couple of passes over the Severn Bridge and now looks like a couple of circuits at Harwaden.

Keep Smiling )

I watched a live stream of the arrival at Broughton this afternoon (no doubt available on youtube). An impressive plane. The stop was impressive; stopped on a sixpence!

Will they still need it after the 380?

They will still be making wings for the rest of the Airbus family. At least, until Airbus decamp!

380 wings go to Toulouse by land transport and barge...

The main rationale behind the Beluga XL is its ability to carry a pair of A350 wings, whereas its predecessor could only carry one.

One assumes that even loaded with two A350 wings, it is a lot lighter that a fully laden A330 on which it is based. So presumably it would stop more easily...

Thanks for the precision. Somehow thought that it was meant for the 380
