Ospreys low flying Emsworth Hampshire

23:30 16/5/18
just watched an Osprey returning to Thorney ( I guess) four Very low passes from south to north
first pass around 21:30 managed to catch the back of it after hearing a jet ( we thought ) on its return the twin side by side rotors kinda gave it away ! What a sight two Very large green circles ( blade tips) approx 500 feet over the house and trees heading south like a bat out of hell ....
no rotor sound at all only on one pass did we hear the rotors .. I would say it sounds like a small fast jet ! Odd
anyone else seen one this eve ? We live in emsworth always seeing chinooks- never seen an Osprey in the UK let alone at night ... green rotor tips side by side disappearing over houses looks very strange :)

Yes I heard at least three maybe four passes. The one time I looked he was heading south - north over Hayling toward Emsworth. Thought it was the Coastguard playing silly buggers at first until I realised that was no ordinary rotor(s). Very impressive those green rotor tips !
