Test?

To see if it made it all the way across without falling out of the sky?

El Bunto 13th Feb 2018 17:53

Ah, I saw that going over Belfast this afternoon in a clear blue sky and didn't realise the significance! I assumed it was one of the Airbus test loops they sometimes fly up around Iceland and back.

Funny how what was once the Baby 'Bus has grown into something longer than a 707-120 and nearly as heavy and is now running trans-Atlantic.

I suspect it was to see if it could make the distance etc etc....

..but you knew that.

incredulous that a S/Haul costa brava charter jet is now being morphed into an intercontinental TA L/Hauler

i know we did it with 757's back in the late 80's to slog it to the Maldives and Orlando with a stretch yer legs fuel stop at BAH or BGR (in fact Sterling did it with their caravelles way way before then) but it was a very much a bucket and spade audience

Tried LGW-BJL in a previous life with Y180. That didn't work so payload came down and down. Biggest issue apart from that was toilets couldn't cope - short haul plane and 6hr+ = No

Crews liked BGR and BAH though Rog747!!

Was looking for Eeeeefrow and got lost. Luckily it had the legs.

LGW-BLJ with a fuel stop at Tenerife South; Flight seemed to go on forever, with only reading material for entertainment. Then for the punters a baggage free for all at the BLJ terminal well a shed actually!

UK-Canaries-Algeria? That's a heck of a dog-leg - did you get lost?
