Something Happening at AMS This Morning (8th Dec.)?
KLM 676 did a sharp right over Northumberland and headed for Manchester around 0830. Others diverting too according to Schipol on-line arrivals information. FR24 shows airfield in open, though.

Weather - snow most likely.
|
Ah! I didn't think it would have such an impact on ops. After all, they aren't British, are they...?
|
It may have been fog as it was too warm for snow I think

Quite a number of diversions into Brussels. Landing rates are reduced in poor visibility and as this was during a peak arrival period it inevitably led to a backlog resulting in some flights having to divert.
|
I did puzzle at the number of diverts (rather than holds) if they were on RVP.

It's very easy to dial up the METARS
Put EHAM in the METAR history box Aviation Weather › Europe › AVWX.info › metar taf sigmet notam winds aloft significant weather information From this you will see rain and hail showers and a squall on the 0755z METAR with the wind going up to 20kts gusting 32kts from 290 degrees which would have restricted landings. Vis was 10km or more most of the time |
Drove today from Limburg in the south, dep. 1130 up to Amsterdam arr. 1300 and between den Bosch and Utrecht it was heavy sleet and hail. No road treatment surprisingly for NL. Snow this evening also in the Amsterdam area.
