Old Liverpool Control Tower

Hello

Does anyone know if the old tower (on the T apron) is still in use for any purpose? Just being nosey :P

It is now part of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which along with the old terminal itself, has been sympathetically restored. One of the lower levels of the tower is in fact a suite. I believe it is still possible to access the tower itself, although it is not open to the public.

Think CMM meant the old tower at the new(er) liverpool airport. Not the old speke airport.

It’s attached to the fire station and appears to be used for storage, filled with lots of old junk by the looks of it (through dirty windows). Sometimes you do see a face pearing out onto the Tango apron from the lower levels, so seems to be used. Perhaps by the fire service

If that's the case, then I agree. I have been told that because the top (glassed area) of the tower is surrounded by aerials of one sort or another, there is a radiation hazard, which is why it isn't used, but I don't know whether that is true.
