Last Fokker flight by KLM

On Saturday (ahem, thanks) 28th October the KL1070 from Heathrow to Schiphol is scheduled to be KLM’s last ever Fokker flight. KLM have had a relationship with Fokker for the last 97 years and have operated the Fokker 70/100 type for the last 24 years. The captain of this aircraft will also retire after this flight. The end of an era.

Wot Day?

28th of October according to my Diary is the SATURDAY.
So is the flight on the Sat. or the Sun.?

DaveReidUK 13th Oct 2017 10:46

It's Saturday 28th, according to the Heathrow timetable.

The flight number, KL1070, is a one-off, doubtless to commemorate the occasion. STA (as KL1079) is 17:20 local time, STD is 18:10.

That will leave Helvetic's occasional F100s, operating for Swiss, as the only Fokkers still scheduled at LHR.

I wonder if they will use their FK-70 with the special Anthony Fokker tail logo?

That seems to be the plan:

Regular visitor at Southampton at the moment.

Love travelling in the F28 family, the world's original mini jet, MALEV Hungarian being perhaps the most enjoyable flight in a F70 BUD/STN in extended seat pitch business class seating, pretty much long-haul for a F70! ... Austrian Airlines (Tyrolean) LED/VIE being another pleasurable experience.

Long may the F28 family continue flying and god pray that Rekkof may commence manufacturing them once again.

Quite Sad indeed

Last 70 flights

Saturday 28th October is the last day of Normal Fokker 70 flights with KLM
and it seems planned the following routes will or hope be graced with the 70
on that day

DUS - Düsseldorf KL1862 arrival Amsterdam 19.05 hrs*
NWI- Norwich KL1512 arrival Amsterdam 19.15 hrs*
HAJ - Hannover KL1912 arrival Amsterdam 19.15 hrs*
BRU - Brussel KL1732 arrival Amsterdam 19.15 hrs*
LUX - Luxembourg KL1746 arrival Amsterdam 19.35 hrs*
LHR - London KL1070 arrival Amsterdam 20.30 hrs *
*Local time

so between 19:00-20:30 Amsterdam should be busy with 70s it seems
and then on the Sunday 29th Norwich plays host to the fleet with the expected arrival of them all for onward sale/storage, being Norwich based cant wait , good photo opportunity there, had heard that some might come across Saturday night but as the last KLM flight to Amsterdam is early evening not sure, unless crew over stop the night here, and of course 70 booked

Of the fleet the ones flying at the moment are
PH-KZB / ZI /ZK / ZL / ZM / KS /KU

ZP afraid left the fleet last week and is at NWI in paint shop

I would guss ZU would be on the Hearthrow flight that day, as this was the first route KLM operated i belive with a Fokker , many moons ago, so would be appropriate to be on that run

Good Luck

Lovely ... :)

In 2017 Willem-Alexander, King of the Netherlands revealed that he had been flying incognito as a copilot twice a month for KLM Cityhopper for the past 21 years

Have they got enough aircraft to replace the retiring aircraft? Noticed an RJ-85 operating a KLM flight this morning.

More E175s on the way - seven in the next year or so, plus a couple more E190s, so yes.

Sorry, but since the last FK-70 is being retired at the end of this week, I fail to comprehend how seven E175s and a couple of E190s being delivered in the next year answers N707ZS's question.

Well for a start, three of those seven E175s are due in the next few weeks, in addition to the six delivered earlier this year, and the assumption that they will need as much capacity in the winter season isn't necessarily valid.

I don't think KLMC are going to be short of capacity, I'm pretty sure they will have done their sums.

Incidentally I'd be fascinated to know whose RJ85 they are apparently using.

EI-RJY Cityjet yesterday inbound to the UK on FR24.

Interesting - looks like KLMC have been using practically all of Cityjet RJ85s at various times on ad-hoc substitutions for the last few months, and more intensively recently.

El Bunto 25th Oct 2017 06:36

All the Mon-Sat KLM services between Amsterdam and Belfast City this Summer were operated by Cityjet RJs, except a one-off substitution by an F70 in August. Unfortunately that was unannounced, despite being the last-ever visit :(

The original agreement with Cityjet: KLM Cityhopper signs agreement with CityJet for the summer season

Oh I can remember how efficient my management were at doing their sums!!! In fact KLMC have been using CItyjet aircraft for a while which would suggest that they ARE short of capacity for the time being.

N707ZS 25th Oct 2017 07:24

Hope DTVA finds some RJ steps before next week then!

Well between flying the Fokker and the Embraer the crews do have to do a tad of retraining so if they finish flying the Fokker on the 28th they ain't about to start flying the Embraer on the 29th.

If there were a full fleet of Embraer's available on 29th a number of them would be on static display!
