Easyjet on TV
Viewers are being shown the various stages of Easyjet crew training on a weekly program featuring scenes both in the air and on the ground.
The last episode showed a 20 year old, very bright young second officer doing a stint in the cockpit while returning from Toulouse in a 737 accompanied by a dozen other trainees and supervised by a training captain. At a point during the flight the captain turned to the bright young thing and said: " "Do you know we're over the Bay of Biscay ?" The BYT looked nonplussed and said: "What's the Bay of Biscay ?" I'm thinking that my next holiday will be at home. |

Apart from the a/c type, I don't think you were watching what I was watching ! |
Capt K
I think I must have been watching the rubbish version of the show as well The tones/script of S Fry made it , even less of an enjoyable viewing experience Rgds |
The part where the female candidate said to the check captain after a successful flight "thanks I really enjoyed that" to which the senior in the jump seat chirped in "that's the first time a female has ever said that to him" was very funny. Mind you I was surprised in this PC world we live in that he dared to say that.

Oh yes ! I too, thought with that comment that 'he was chancing his arm'.
I'll keep my eye on the Situations Vacant. |
Thought it ok, call me old fashioned; F/O called Cornelius, another chap Hemingway Thomson with the verbal tea - TRE? called Toby. Where are the guys that have started flying singles/twins come up through the ranks and called Harry who was a butcher

Watched both episodes and thought it brought my profession into disrepute.
I just cannot believe EJ training is as silly as presented. |
I found the whole thing ever so slightly excruciating. Whizzo,, ever had a banana sandwich? Oh, and the centreline chaps.....
|
Basil, I quite agree. Very casual, sloppy, non-professional attitudes and some deplorable training standards...
Fortunately I haven't often had to fly with this bunch, now will I never do so again. 3 out of 4 landings on 2 easyJet flights last year (in benign day CAVOK light wind conditions) could best be described as...survivable. Just. |
I don't mind much about the training standards but the purple trousers of the guy when he's wearing civilian clothes, WTF?

Guys, there is a long thread in Jetblast about this programme, including episode 1. Suggest you read that as it is much more informative than what has been posted here.
