Trying to look up an Easyjet flight.

My sister is returning to the UK this coming Saturday and I have promised to go and pick her up. Last night I went on the Easyjet website and entered the flight number (8518) and it showed me yesterdays flight and all the same flights up to and including this Friday.

So, today I go back onto the site and as it is 24hrs later try and check the flight time details for this Saturday. However, although it shows me an option to check all the flights up to and now including this Saturday, it keeps going 'automatically' to the Flightdata 24 tracking website and insists on showing me all sorts of flights over Europe in real time. It didn't do this last night, it showed me the information I wanted to know albeit not quite up to this Saturday.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong - I just want to check her updated scheduled arrival time for this Saturday!

FR24 has problems with searching for Easyjet flight numbers because it doesn't understand that they use EZY rather than the IATA code U2. When it fails it just reverts to standard map view.

Here's a direct link to the schedule page for that flight:

Many thanks Bunto,

Last night I just entered the 4 digit flight number on the Easyjet page and it came up with a small tabulated graphic showing all the 8518 flight details up to and including this Friday. Flight24 never appeared to come into it at any time and I didn't do anything different this morning as to what I did last night.

Anyway, your link works ok for me and thats the important bit I guess - thank you very much for that.:ok:

It's not entirely clear what you're trying to find out. The "scheduled arrival time" (12:35) is what's in the timetable and it's not likely to change between now and Saturday.

The estimated arrival time (ETA), on the other hand, will be updated on the day to reflect the progress of the flight.

If you want a bit of advance warning, check the outbound Gatwick-Dubrovnik flight 8517 early on Saturday morning - it's supposed to depart at 06:25 and if it's running late it's likely that the return flight to Gatwick will be too.

Also,. If you know how long it takes you to drive to Gatwick, use fr24 to see where the plane is up to an hour before your ETD and you can plan accordingly.

U2 is Easyjet Switzerland - HB registered planes, HQ Geneva, and EZY is Easyjet UK - G registered planes, HQ Luton.

Not quite.

Almost every airline has both an ICAO (3-letter) and an IATA (2-character) designator.

EasyJet UK has ICAO designator EZY whereas EasyJet Switzerland has EZS.

Both share the same IATA designator U2.

I'm simply trying to find out what time the flight is going to land at Gatwick on Saturday. I can see that it is scheduled to arrive at 12.35, I will look it up again on Saturday morning to see if there is any update. It will take me nearly 2 hours to drive there and park etc so I can only go by what they indicate mid morning. Thank you for suggesting looking up the outbound flight first - good tip.

No they don't. EZS are DS.

KelvinD 9th Jul 2017 08:40

No they are not. At the time of writing (08:40Z), have a look at HB-JZX. Flying from Catania to Basle as U2 1230.
And there are 10 HB-JY* in the air at the moment and all are U2 flights.

A300Man 9th Jul 2017 15:53

U2 is correct for both, AFAIK.

DaveReidUK 9th Jul 2017 16:08

EasyJet Switzerland operate flights under a franchise arrangement with EasyJet UK. Those flights share EasyJet's U2 code.

However EasyJet Switzerland do have their own code DS allocated by IATA (see http://www.iata.org/publications/Pages/code-search.aspx) which they would use if they operated any flights outside of the franchise arrangement (though I don't think they do).

So everyone is right, sort of. :O
