Silkway makes sure that Schiphol remains below sea level

Apparently this landing was accomplished some time last weekend.

Is applying spoilers on bounce an approved procedure on the 74' ?

buggaluggs 24th Apr 2017 07:06

Actually the spoilers auto-deploy on touchdown on the 747, and will restow again if you bounce, which they did on this 'landing'.
If you really grease it on, the spoiler deployment can sometimes be your first indication of touchdown, however in this example, I'm confident the crew were fully aware that they had returned to mother earth!

Porschephile 24th Apr 2017 08:41

My lower back started aching just watching this!

You sure?

Can I be the first:

A little late on the roundout, Hoskins.

Captivep 24th Apr 2017 12:01

One of those times when a landing really does look like a "controlled crash into a planet"...

arem 24th Apr 2017 12:59

Having planted it perhaps he needs a bucket of water to water it

Council Van 24th Apr 2017 20:54

The movement on the in board flaps is amazing!

Hotel Tango 24th Apr 2017 21:05

AZG123, take the next bounce to the left and contact Ground point
niner!

NudgingSteel 24th Apr 2017 21:32

Wow!

My compliments to Messrs Boeing, Goodyear/Dunlop and the others!

muggins 24th Apr 2017 21:41

As my instructor used to say to me (with increasing emphasis):

flare ... Flare ... FLARE ... BRACE

Martin the Martian 25th Apr 2017 09:44

Just as well Mr. Boeing built them to last. Yowsers.

RAT 5 25th Apr 2017 10:30

Flat Spot the tyres? By brute compression force, not locking up.

Any More Info On This Hard Landing?

Saw it first on FB, found it on YouTube. Allegedly occurred on Apr 22 at Schipol. Silkway cargo plane, very hard landing.

Thank goodness that wasn't an MD 11

WindSheer 25th Apr 2017 17:50

Fab recovery.

Probably a "I have control" moment.......

NudgingSteel 25th Apr 2017 19:22

More like a "I thought you had control" moment!

RAT 5 25th Apr 2017 19:24

Looks like Captain gravity had control. How do you spell elevator? And 'gently'?

RatherBeFlying 25th Apr 2017 19:45

The inboard left flap jiggles interestingly at the first touchdown, which is somewhat short of the recommended 1000' past the threshold - windshear may have yanked the rug.
