Still can't get over how there's only 1 person looking for debris and even that's of his own volition.

What I find equally curious is the lack of interest on this forum !

That would indeed cast a new light on a few matters, and pose some significant new questions.

The opinion that the burnt item is a section of the MH370 fuselage - and supposedly from the avionics bay - is purely the opinion of the finder, and not backed by any authority.

We have to recognise that Blaine Gibson is a man driven by a desire to find MH370 and wreckage from MH370 - and nearly every piece of flotsam or jetsam that he finds on Madagascan or Mauritian shores, must be from MH370.

I do admire Mr Gibsons single-mindedness to try and find MH370, and the reason/s behind its demise - but he is conjecturing to all the assembled headline-hungry media of the world - and probably the best thing he could do, and what he is apparently planning to do, is to take every suspect item he has found, directly to the ATSB for professional investigation and evaluation.

The explanation for the burn marks could be something relatively innocuous and simple - or it could be ominous.
Only expert air crash investigators have the ability and equipment to come up with a qualified opinion.

True - but interesting how the pieces concerned appear to be made of honeycomb material acc to the pics in the Telegraph article. Is that used on anything other than aircraft?

HT - you may be right about honeycomb being used in the constriction of some yachts, but my money is on at least one of THESE parts being from a plane. A yacht wouldn't have a row of half-turn fasteners like in the first picture.

A quick analysis of the 2 burnt pieces 1/looks like the burn marks occured before they were shattered. 2/the heat source was intense and of a short duration as internal structure not melted.3/ the heat source effected both sides equally 4/burn marks show unequal burn intensity, blowtorch effect.5/as both pieces were found on different beaches unlikely they were burnt in a fisherman's beach fire.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't think that it has yet been established that the possibly burned item in question came from MH370. Therefore, all of this speculation about whether it is burnt or not and what that may mean is premature.

You're right. Until it's identified as MH370 wreckage, it tells us very little.

But if it is identified as MH370 wreckage, it could potentially tell us a lot.
