I think you'll find that there will be holding if LVPs are in force! What is unusual?
|
What are the conditions that make the aerodrome declare LVP will it be visibility below 800m? or the RVR for that instrument approach, ie below 300 for CAT II
|
For DUB LVP's come into force when one or more of the following are present .
*RVR's of 550m or less *MET VIS of 800m or less *Cloud base (Broken or Overcast) of 200ft. |

Feeling is mutual, old chap. I am a spotter too and have been for 60 years|! |
I have not flown into Dublin for some years now, but I remember on one occasion the vis went down at short notice, we had to hold for about 15 mins. while the airport was inspected to allow Cat 3 operations.
All the boundary fences and gates have to be checked and the ILS sensitive areas inspected and at 5 in the morning there is probably only one Ranger to do this. |
Dixi188.. Know what you mean; it's quite a task.

Hi AerRyan where did you obtain that information from? AIP?
Thanks |
See AAIU Report No:2010-002
Relevant parts "An IAA document titled “Procedures for Reduced and Low Visibility Operations at Dublin Airport” sets out the ATC and associated procedures to be followed during periods of reduced or low visibility. The DAA has an equivalent manual, Airport Direction 16, “Procedures for Reduced and Low Visibility Operations”." And "The document states that LVPs shall be initiated by the Station Manager if visibility is 1,000 m or less and forecast to deteriorate significantly, or the cloud ceiling is 300 ft or less. LVPs shall be enforced when the IRVR is 550 m or less (or if the IRVR is unserviceable when the Met Visibility is 800 m or less) and/or the cloud ceiling is 200 ft or less." |
