LGW MD80
I was passing through LGW yesterday evening and whilst taxiing back to the terminal, we came close to the forgotten area where an MD80 was dumped since several years, except it's gone! Did it get scrapped finally ? There was talk of it being used as a ground trainer/fire trainer/whatever, but that never seemed to come to fruition. Where did it go ?

Was moved across to next to the BA hangars recently, to be parted out I understand.

It was photographed at LGW as recently as June of this year, but for some time now it has worn the legend "Trygon Aviation Ltd - Licensed Aircraft Dismantlers", so it looks like it's destined to become saucepans.

Thanks for the replies. Even though I was next to a window facing the BA hangars it didn't register. Aluminium heaven awaits….

BA Hangars ?
There is only one. (Hangar 6....the old Laker one with the sloping floor !) The MD was moved to free up Stand space over in the Cargo area |
It's over to the left side of the threshold of 26L at the moment, I noticed it (and its lack of engines) the other day when driving along the A23 as it happens.
