EPGD CDA

In the Airport Operation Information for EPGD it says for Arrivals -

CONTINOUS DESCENT APPROACH
-Arrange descent to pass 7000 AMSL. Within 25NM to touchdown

-Expect track miles INFO or base leg INFO from ATC at or above 7000 AMSL. Do not turn base leg untill instructed.

-At or before downwind PSN maintain IAS 220kt or MNM clean speed whichever is greater.

But for the arrival STARs its got at or above alt rest of atleast FL200 at 35NM out. So this defeats the purpose of the CDA because you wouldn't make that restriction at 7000 / 25nm out? So not sure what i should plan for...

EPGD? Did you mean that?

Gdansk

No its not dyslexia it is Poland or an unplanned diversion to Dyce. In which case load extra fuel.

I'll hazard a guess if I may; this is an MSFS issue and you are using LIDO charts by the sound of it. Nothing wrong with that but the sim publisher has no legal contract to explain things. Normally "Ops" are the proper channel but if you don't have them your only recourse is back to the legal authority... the Polish AIP which is probably the eAIP so google it if you can.

Next guess if I may; do you think that CDA, RNAV, RNAV(GNSS) are one and the same thing? Because they are not. Think of Method One, Method Two, Method Three.... similar but not identical. That is why you are confused by getting three different answers because there are three different questions.

If indeed you are simming then you have the privilege of selecting ONE option to the exclusion of all others. It is the mystery voice in the virtual headphones.

In real life carry out all your AIP amendments in order of the latest first, then file them in alphabetical order then burn them for all the use they are. Because ATC are obliged to weave a path around all airborne and groundborne obstacles except low flying ducks at 50 feet above. They call it Vectors.

Yes thats correct flying the 737NGX and using Lido charts! Well that solves my confusion, i was thinking it was asking for you to apply the CDA and fly the RNAV arrival with the alt constraints.

Well i registered with Poland AIP and its lengthy just like ICAO DOC 8168 :ugh:

I've never had to comply with the published levels on the arrival into Gdansk. Usually it's direct GD908-IPLAM-ILS29 descending 3000ft.
Or for 11, direct to UVRIK from 50 miles out or so.

Last time I asked if the restrictions apply I got a "Restrictions? Ofcourse not!" kind of reply :p I love Polish ATC.

Driver 170 29th Jul 2015 19:01

Thanks TOM. You don't find much controllers at EPGD on VATSIM just mostly Gdansk control after departure. But next time i'm over that side i'll direct to IPLAM or UVRIK
