Air Canada 873 Diverted to Shannon Today

Since I'm in Canada, I'm not sure where to post this but I'm hoping someone at Shannon might have noticed. This Air Canada flight 873 from Frankfurt to Toronto was diverted to Shannon this morning, landing at about 10.19 UTC and taking off at about 12.30 UTC. Does anyone know the reason?

Thank you.

I'm not party as to why, but as the stop was 2hrs approx it will have most likely have been either a medical evacuation, or an unexpected minor technical glitch that needed seeing to before heading over the Oggin.

10 second G search and you have the answer

87 year old lady causing disturbance, restrained by crew and arrested on arrival.

Said she was travelling "first class", pretty good feat considering AC don't have first class

Incorrect. That was an incident a few weeks ago. Todays was a medical emergency. If you're going to post sarcastic replies, it's a good idea to get your own facts straight first ;)

Passenger rushed to hospital after Air Canada jet in medical diversion to Shannon

Same goes. It was the third story done. Still there, amazed there were to AC flights from Frankfurt to Canada that both had to divert to shamming working days of each other

As far as the 87 year old lady is concerned, the report says that it took two or three attendants to subdue her; I hope I have that much energy when I am 87. Anyway, thanks for the responses.

Over two months ago, in fact:

I love the fact that the Express thinks Shannon is in Scotland. :O

It is reported here in Ireland that a passenger took a suspected stroke, when the aircraft was 230kms west of Ireland and the aircraft turned around and amade a high speed approach to Shannon

I've never seen such drivel on this site about a flight with a Medical Emergency

They happen Daily and don't effect Aircaft saftey

The Aircaft had no Tech issues and after the passenger had been dropped off the
Aircaft continued

A lot of Bull**** about nothing

Grow up

AIR CANADA FLIGHT NEEDS WHEEL CHANGE

On arrival from LOndon the aircraft required a Wheel change before its Departure

Feeling grumpy learjet50 or just off your meds? No need for that kind of attitude.

surely not 16th Jun 2015 21:37

Ok Learjet50 was perhaps a tad heavy with his comments, but he is right, there is a lot of hyper twaddle written on here about happenings that, whilst non standard, pose no danger to flight safety whatsoever.

I hope the passenger who suffered the suspected stroke is now recovering, and that Air Canada don't have any more Hells Grannies travelling with them.
