Twas rather foggy in Dublin on 20th Nov.
And someone took the time to make a video and post it to the internet to prove it.
Amazing cockpit video from a plane landing in thick fog at Dublin Airport JAS |
That was interesting and it brings home the advances in technology that allow aircraft to fly in marginal conditions with a good deal of safety. Do they have ground radar at DUB ?
SHJ |
Yes, like many airports, Dublin has A-SMGCS (surface movement radar + multilateration).
|
<<......then land it on the ground at hundreds of kilometres per hour.>
Hmmm..... novel. |
Amazing how the fog varies, as I think one of the crew says it's suddenly almost CAVOK at touchdown then back into the murk again.
|
Anyone spot the unionised part of that trip?
|
At the end as they pulled into the gate ? ;)

None of it. Total number of electrons never equalled total number of protons as far as i can tell.

I like this approach to Queenstown.
Lots of faith in navigation systems from about 02:45 onwards - though don't skip to that; enjoy the beauty of flying over the mountains first. A Pilot?s View: Queenstown, New Zealand |
nasty aircraft calling the pilot a retard, i thought he did a pretty good job..:D
|
The Late - thanks for posting another great vid. Why does the aircraft twitch so much at 2:16ish? Would it be turbulence caused by the mountains?
