Just heard a lumbering prop job heading over Essex, stuck on FR24, and up popped N74589, a Dak in invasion stripes. Doesn't say where from/to though

Look at Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's website to see if it was theirs.
I was with my Dad in Hampshire last year and one flew over, reminding Dad of his forced landing in one, in Argentinian marshland.
