Well you won't hear much if you listen to it anyway; communications are kept to an absolute minimum in order to avoid the pilot being distracted. Much better to listen to GMC.

Was there this afternoon and compared to the business shows the flying was somewhat meagre, but that said the chance to see the 'old stuff' was worth the trip alone, Meteor, Vampire, Vulcan, Canberra, Connie, Dakota etc….A special mention has to be made to the Harrier, that blast from the past which with it's display showed me at least, that for field and close air support it was, and perhaps still is formidable.

Agree much SHJ, some enjoyable displays, (I've never seen a Connie flying), and Kudos to the Spanish puffer jet. And some proper A/burner noise. A good day out

I also enjoyed the Connie as I've not seen one flying before. Worth going just to be so close to the Vulcan and A380 when they rotate.

And the Lynx was pretty impressive too.

And well done to the A380 driver for doing an extra pass down the runway when he departed - great getting another look as I was wondering towards the exit.

On the subject of the display frequency - why are they being so cagey about it? Has there been some kind of incident? I was surprised approach were telling people to 'monitor display' and not even giving the frequency out over the radio.

There have been cases in the past of unknown voices coming up on the display frequency and attempting to pass 'instructions'.

I know what you mean T. I copped one of those loonies once.

Vancouiv. Crews will have been briefed as to the frequency and they are the only ones who need to know!

Some perspective please, air band enthusiasts are overwhelmingly interested people who would no more be using a *transciever* to try and cause a crash than Flight Simmers are likely to be plotting to hijack an actual aeroplane.

It's positively encouraged in the US and the UK has never shown interest in cracking down as there is no public interest in any prosecution in any way shape or form from listening in. Indeed Flightradar24 and Planefinder give you way more data in real time.

I can see both sides of the coin, as mr skipness says, 99% of enthusiasts are 'on-side' and have no malicious thoughts or intentions, yet I can appreciate that not many of us would be happy to have our working lives monitored and commented on etc. It happens, it's a grey area of the law and it will continue.

ANYONE that transmits on ANY frequency that is used by Aircraft/shipping/emergency etc (and isn't sanctioned to do so) should rightly be keelhauled.
