Fast Loud Jet Bishop'sStortford.

Just had a very fast, low & loud Jet fly over Bishop's Stortford NE to SW at 15.25hrs. Looked Military. Also reports of a possible sonic boom in this area.

Duxford?

Various things are flying around heading for Duxford this weekend ...

Found this in local rag website.

An RAF spokesman said at 3.24pm: “We can confirm that Typhoon aircraft were launched from RAF Coningsby in their quick reaction alert role this afternoon to investigate a civilian light aircraft in Buckinghamshire which had lost radio contact with air traffic control. Post an uneventful interception, the civilian aircraft re-established comms and was released to proceed en-route.”

A friend of mine just posted this on my facebook wall, another friend was dropping off a hostess at STN, and said he saw an isolated light aircraft on the tarmac with a heavy Police presence around it.

"PC12 LX-JFQ has just had the dubious honour of being escorted into Stansted by two fully armed Typhoons. Just in case anybody wanted them the second fast jet was coded QO-T"

'Incident' London TMA

We were approaching the holding point for departure yesterday at STN and were given a 10 minute delay due to what ATC described as an incident in the London TMA. listening on the approach frequency, ATC were asking traffic to hold and giving 'undetermined' delays. One aircraft asked the nature of the incident and were firmly told by ATC they could t say.
We then heard the 'incident' aircraft coming onto the tower frequency and it became clear it was being shadowed by a Typhoon. the single engine turbo prop landed, taxied off and was met by the police. The typhoon disappeared and shortly afterwards we were cleared for take off and normality was resumed.
I have no idea still of the nature of the incident but would offer a guess that the foreign aircraft set some alarm bells going when it possibly got lost in the London TMA?
Any thoughts?

Newt, do explain your comment.

<<ATC get a grip!>>

His profile says he was a fast jet pilot. I.e. he doesn't have a clue.
