Absolutely fantastic and I'd love to see the Moth Meet pics please. Just one question - what camera?
|
Fantastic se of pics! Er... the Travelair? Where did that one come from?
I presume the Udet Flamingo is the aeroplane that came to grief during the summer? |
Hi there HD.
The camera is a Nikon D300, but the lens is what gives the results. I used my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AFS zoom , NON digital lens. When on my D300 it gives me equall to 120-300mm. From my experience its superior to the follow up 70-200 f2.8 VR1 AFS zoom. I had one, but went back to the 80-200mm zoom, which I found optically better!!!! OPF |

The Curtiss Travalair 4000 came from "Mengen" in southern Germany. owned/operated by Alois Bader. As for the Udet Flamingo. This is the second of two "Repros, this red one built in 1993, out of Bad Neustadt in Germany. Owned/operated by Ulrich Stengele The one that crashed was at the "Tannkosh" meet in southern Germany a couple of weeks before Hahnweide meet. (Looking back at my archives I note that I photographed the crashed one at The Aircraft Museum at Oberschleissheim Nr. Munich. in 2008) OPF |
Thanks OPF, lots of classic vintage aeroplanes around in Europe now, I need to get to shows other than just Flying Legends!

Beautiful shots as always, well done :ok:
|
OPF. Thanks. I have a Canon EOS20D camera with "L" lenses but I could never get near the sharpness of your pics. Too late in my life to change to Nikon now!
|
OPF. Sorry, one more question if I may.. Any post-processing applied? I am truly amazed at the quality of the pics. My congratulations.

HD.
Without giving any specific info., I can say that there was a small amount of work , eg. a bit of cropping maybe, without impacting or taking anything away from the Photo. as taken. As I noted before, the quality is in the "Lens" and having an eye for the right moment to hit the button. I have been taking Photos since the 1950s, semi pro. since 1974 so have had a bit of practice.!!!!! With many thanks for your posts and kind words, it gives me a buzz to think others appreciate my efforts. This also applies to "mutt"who I know has posted appreciation for my Photos. now and on previous occasions. Thanks to all who respond, it encourages me to carry on in my hobby. OPF |
