A330 Royal Airforce
Hi i see that the Royal Air Force has a Airbus A330. What role would the
A330 be within the royal Air Force? Regards to all :) |
Have you tried typing A330 RAF into google?
|
It's designed as dual role Air-to-Air re-fuelling tanker and Transport Aircraft.
Also known as a Airbus A330 MRTT / KC-30A Voyager. Airbus A330 MRTT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

And "Air" and "Force" are two words as defined in any reputable English dictionary!
|
Having served in the Royal Air Force for Queen and Country perhaps one doesn't have too much time for the typo types of this internet age! :)

This is an aspect of PFI that has resulted in the 'Rental Air Farce'. Motto; "Buy now - pay much, later."
|
If they last as long as the fabulous VC10s there will be plenty of time to pay.

I wonder if the military A330 will have the same handling challenges as the civilian A330. I seem to remember an issue being discussed on pprune about the computers taking over at the most challenging of times, mainly landing.
I can remember one person saying "there is nothing worse to have the computer take over when your riding the bull" :E refering to manually flying the ILS and the computer taking over. I would like to add these were not my choice of words but made me chuckle when i read them, its probably why i remember it so well. I cannot wait to see this aircraft at a military display. Once again thanks to all who posted |
There's a HiFly A330 currently doing circuits at Brize. Training for Voyager crews?
|
Er no, just training for HiFly crews...
|
From looking at the piccies and description, there doesn't seem to be any provision for a receiver probe on the Voyager. Is this intended as part of an upgrade or just deemed unnecessary? They proved rather useful on Victors after all...
