Class 2 medical query
Hi Everyone ,
I am very much interested to be a professional Pilot and am determined to be a good Pilot. I have a hearing loss of 60db and use a hearing aid.My hearing aid is so small that one cant even notice it..and even without the hearing aid its very easy for me to hold a conversation.. My query is that can I take up a hearing test with my hearing aid on and then submit the same to pass a class 2 medical? This will help me get a student pilot license and bring me one step closer to my dream of becoming a Pilot. p.s : Once i get a job as a professional pilot I can buy the tiniest and most advanced hearing aid.. and I will be as good as any other pilot. Pls let me know ur Suggestions Thanks SUHAS (INDIA) |
Just so you're aware in order to hold a professional license you will need to take a class 1 medical. This does involve a hearing test however I'm not sure about the use of hearing aids. Might be worth posting this question in the 'medical and health' forum to get an answer there.

Just so you're aware in order to hold a professional license you will need to take a class 1 medical. Legally in the US, only if one is the PIC of a airline or charter aircraft is one required to have a First Class Physical. By ICAO regulations, a US FAA Second Class physical is consider the same as a JAA First Class Physical. However, some countries still require a First Class Physical for any pilot flying as PIC for remuneration, airline or corporate. Simply put; FAA First Class; Airline/Charter PIC. FAA Second Class; Airline/Charter SIC/FE, Part 91 corporate PIC/SIC. (and ATC controllers) FAA Third Class; Private Pilot privileges. (Not for hire under any circumstances.) |
