Should be RAF RRR813
Fosters |
From the still I just looked at it might be an RAF example, but then again......It's most likely a Qatar example and going into the cargo area for whatever.

RRR813 ZZ176 C17 arrived in today 7-9-11

From what I understand, it was RAF. Not sure what it was "up to".
cheers, Jake. |
Happened to look out the windows as this went over today inbound on 27L, a nice surprise and the first Military I recall seeing since a C130 about a year ago. I generally look out when I hear something noisy (generally 74s and SAS MDs) or different like a Go Around (only 3 in the last 5 or so years that I spied)

Maybe this explains the delays today. Any idea when its departing if it hasn't? would love to get it on my radio

All you have to do is drive to Brize and you can watch them all day...

All you have to do is drive to Brize and you can watch them all day... If your clever, you can park at the end of the RW all day without getting "moved on". However, I'd suggest going around the time of RIAT, as you get to see some of the arrivals as they stop at Brize before moving on to Fairford. It's well worth it. cheers, Jake. |
Slight thread drift and a quick question for HD. Drooped a friend off at T3 today and parked up at Hatton Cross tube station for a bit of a rest and watch a few arrivals. 27L was arrivals and watching the arrival stack a BA777 turned right (it was about third in the queue) and landed on 27R, this was about 1255. Normal practice? Perhaps just taking advantage of a gap in departures? Dunno, it was not changeover time as for the next hour or so it was 27L all the time. Not at all familiar with LHR procedures, just curious.

Hence the use of maybe :p millitary (apart from royal amri and equivalent movements) arn't exactly standard visitors into heathrow so i presumed they might have to have the airspace clear all around. Seems I'm wrong |
Post 4 above provides all the correct information on the arrival at Heathrow.
ZZ176 then left for Durham Tees Valley where it arrived at 14.45, departing 30 minutes later back to Brize. |

I can't believe some of the stuff on here. They don't "clear" the airspace for anything at Heathrow!!!
McGoonagall..... Switching runway could be for various reasons. I suspect it might have been catching up the one ahead. Incidentally the term "arrival stack" might cause confusion. Stacks are where aircraft hold - for Heathrow in four areas some distance from the airfield. What you were looking at was the traffic on the ILS, or final approach. |
they Say they Dont know where Gadaffi Is oR Phoned from 1471 Might
have Helped IE Heathrow ? wasnt here at FAB where moussa koussa Arrived but you never know . All that Talk of gold on TV in convoy would have needed a C17 T Getting bored :ugh::sad: |
