She needs surgery on her nose, but the rest of her body is sweeet.

Tom the Tenor 18th Aug 2011 15:55

Did she land on runway 06? I dont know why I feel that is a relevant question to ask but for some reason I do and that view does not remind me of the some time happy days in snn a long time ago!

What is that flying from the top of her tail?

EI-BUD 19th Aug 2011 22:24

Can anyone confirm when is 787 leaving Shannon? Or has it done so already?

I think I read on here that it was due to leave Saturday but I think I also read it wasnt coming until Friday and it came Thursday...

Thanks

[Video] Boeing 787 Dreamliner Departing Shannon yesterday

A video I took yesterday of the 787 Dreamliner departing Shannon yesterday (19/08) in wet conditions and throwing up quite a spray. The sound of her engines was the most impressive part.

I enjoyed that - thank you!

Departed 19th. See Spectators Balcony for video of departure.

An Airbus Spy Camera ?? !! ;)

What is interesting from those photos is the level of wing flex. Comparing the landing shots with the taxying shots is quite a difference. A lot of the 787 renders depicted this level of flex, I thought it was creative license to make the aircraft look more dynamic, etc. obviously not.

Thanks for uploading the video.
Most interesting.

EI787fan 20th Aug 2011 19:34

Sark 20th Aug 2011 20:27

That thing I mentioned in the other topic is still dangling from its tail. Any ideas?

radar0976 20th Aug 2011 22:22

Its a trailing cone generally used in testbed aircraft to calibrate the static pressure error (which reports the altitude) of the pitot-static system. It trails the aircraft in the free stream which gives the most accurate pressure. As the sensors that will be used on real life aircraft are on the skin of the aicraft there is some error in the readings due to the airflow over the aircraft surface resulting in different values given to the true ones. The trailing cone provides the real values, and the difference between the sensors and the trailing cone gives the correction factor.
