C17 Globemaster - Aberdeen
Walking home from work this evening I was surprised to see a C17 Globemaster on approach to Aberdeen, a rare visitor. Anyone have any idea what it was doing in Aberdeen?

I saw one on approach from my house as I got home last night, was suprised to see a second on approach about 10 minutes later.
The gf phoned me to ask what they were, she heard on the radio there were about 6 military jets performing some sort of operation at ABZ. Needless to say by the time I got to the airport at 8 last night they were long gone  Sorry I can't shed more light though! |
Yeah I was on Union Street around 17.20 and I saw it, thought my eyes were decieving me at first! Didn't realise there was another too :ok:
I used to work as a baggage handler at ABZ years ago. Largest I ever saw and dealt with at ABZ was an Air Holland 767. |
It was the RAF's latest C-17 (ZZ177) just doing a bit of crew-training, it is based at Kinloss this week as it involved with the yearly Weapons Instructors Course.
I hope that helps. |
Red tail markings? Seen it overhead Newcastle this morning
|
Spotted on approach to EDI this morning too.

Yes I saw red tail markings too, I believe that is the number 10 representing 10 years of C17 service in the RAF.
