monarch looking at buying A350,s
Heard today monarch are talking to airbus about a possible deal on the A350 i assume this is due to the 787 fiasco
they certainly arent the only ones (not even the only uk carrier).
"It will be some years away as the initial model of the A350 is too big for their needs" Words of the ops director.
Many airlines would rather have 350's instead of 787's as the leap in technology is significant. In the interim Monarch like many other pending 787 customers will be provided with A330's, 767's and 777's to fill the gap. |
Haven't Monarch dumped their 787 order, sold on the production slots for a nice profit and going down the A330 route?
Im sure they would love to, however who in there right minds going to buy them, they cannot be many people about who have not now realised the whole things a mega flop
No they haven't. You cannot sell production slots as they do not belong to the buyer, they belong to the manufacturer. Whatever the 787's woes (and there are many), the A350 isn't immune either. Before they have even started to wind one of these things together, Airbus are already running about 6 months behind schedule.
TJ is more interested in A330s at the moment. Quite a few about just their monthly hire rates are sky high.
The 767's weren't sold to Eva, the Mantegazza family still owned the aircraft but they were leased to Eva.
