RAAF Willy fighter Pilots
Hey.
A friend of mine who also wishes to become a commercial pilot was telling me that when he was surfing he saw 4 jets fly past fast and low. He said it's happened a few times, being on different days. So what could they be upto and how often would they do this? I woudn't mind checking them out. And I thought no one was aloud to fly like that... Even the military. He also said it went past then he heard the sound, I'm not exactly sure on the characteristics but I thought it was a realy realy loud bang... thanks for any replies:ok: |
What's a Willy fighter pilot?
Is RAAF Willy an airfield? Perhaps they are allowed to fly aloud! |

You may or may not be right, but I believe it's whether or not they wave them that counts:}

RAAF fighter pilots
Lamb of God, if your mate was surfing near the RAAF Williamtown airbase he may well have seen FA 18 or Hawk aircraft flying fast and low. Near to RAAF Williamtown is Saltash Bombing range where the RAAF train. They also have designated low flying areas over land and over the sea. Additionally, when approaching to land into the west they overfly the beach in close proximity to the base. Don't worry about the boofheads with nothing better to do than throw crap at you, they were never sixteen years old and never made a mistake (aloud instead of allowed). By the way, it is not uncommon to have a low flying fast jet go by before you hear the sound.

Ok, thanks for that Old Fella. I'm guessing he was about 40nm South of Williamtown:ok:
